stop RESISTING

Deciding to have a website as additional presence on Soash Media

So here it is - my website, what now?  What happens now?  I get an increase of ‘sales’?  I get more ‘hits’?  But I am a Yoga teacher – I don’t sell anything – well that’s not exactly the way I see it.  I do my best to pass on information about Yoga and guide anyone who is interested through their own experience of Yoga.  And my little bit of knowledge about the greatness of Ayurveda too. So I couldn’t quite see how having a website could assist in the process (process?  sounds a bit ‘business-y’ to me) when the 'interweb’ can give you all that already - that’s if you know where to go for the RIGHT knowledge (Pramana).  I think I’m one of the last breed of Yoga teachers who found Yoga NOT through Social Media – sorry Soash Media.  My mum and sister introduced me to Yoga and I read flyers on community noticeboards about Yoga classes.  And my introduction to the world wide web was in my corporate days. We had special training on how to use this new phenomenon. Data protection or hashtag blocks meant your search (on AskJeeves probably, remember?) would be blocked if you looked for ‘Institute of….’ due to the potential rude nature of your search! Go figure. Thus I’m SLOWLY melting away my RESISTANCE to this way of being a Yoga teacher.  I’ve had a business Facebook page pretty much since I started.  I’ve been blessed with great support from Ananta Yoga & Ayurveda studios for internet advertising. I migrated onto Instagram at the start of the Pandemic.  Now I’m here wondering what next.

I’m very eager to get back to teaching physically in a studio and away from this screen – we wait and see what the guidelines say – GUIDELINES? I certainly don’t feel guided in my business but that’s another story.

My website will tell you a little about me.  I am a work-in-progress. I am a Bogi (i.e. being dragged around by my senses in the material world) aspiring to be a Yogi (i.e. being quietly and joyously guided by my intuitive discerning intelligence). I am the witnessing consciousness. I am more than my sensory organs, my motor organs, my mind.  I am more than my thoughts and behaviours. I am not the stories of my life. I am pure awareness. And so are you.  But my bio will tell you about my physical prakriti life here on this earth right now.  And, briefly, about how I came to teach Yoga and a little more about my teaching.  Okay, so there is one reason for my website.

I run classes at various times in various locations (Ananta Yoga & Ayurveda in Wicklow Town, Brockagh Resource Centre in Laragh, Arus Lorcain in Arklow).  Well, I did before the world changed a little more drastically than it usually does and took me to location Zoom as well as Outdoors and that too followed by a Swim!  So you can find out where and when I am teaching.  Check out my ‘Yoga Timetable’ page on here for September 2021.  I hope to be back in my venues or maybe I’ll be back on Zoom, or maybe I’ll be doing the hybrid thing again of teaching in studio and on Zoom and recording all at the same time.  Perhaps by the time you read this blog, life will have resumed a new normal and there will be something there for you to consider.  So that’s another reason (soon hopefully) for my website.

One of the Yoga classes I teach is Chair Yoga.  And you might be wondering what it is, who it is for and when and where I teach it.  So again, the ‘when’ bit is TBC.  But take a look at what Chair Yoga is.  A wonderful way to start or to continue practicing Yoga.  Chair Yoga is my biggest passion and one of many life-lines for me during the pandemic.  Yay, even I’m beginning to see why I now have a website.

You can also find out about my other classes – my Hatha Vinyasa classes, my Back Care Yoga classes and if you’d like to book a private one-2-one class or a private group class.

I have also written one article about Chair Yoga and had my 15 minutes of fame when David from the Wicklow People came to experience my class before writing about his time in the class with all my lovely Chair Yogis.

As you’re here now reading this article, take a look around.  Tell me what you think and hopefully glean some useful information out of your time spent here.

The blogging – mmm – I’m not so sure about it.  Personally, I like to leave this to the experts – the True Yoga experts who have studied and studied and experienced and lived their Yoga.  See my reading list on my Classes>Yoga page.  But I have one blog already in mind – Chair Yoga in a Pandemic - a most gracious life-line – watch this space. Gosh, now I’m even committing to revisiting my own website.

I hope to see you in one of my classes soon.

And I’ll end here as my website begins… Welcome to my website.  I’m very happy to have you here.
